The Saint Marine (or Holy Mother of God) Church of Artik is one of the distinctive monuments of early medieval Armenian architecture.
It is not an ordinary single-nave church. On either side of the western section there were open external apses, and on either side of the main apse, inward-opening apses. In total the church had five east-facing apses — three internal and two open external ones. On the lintel of the main apse's window, the sign of an equal-armed cross typical of the early medieval period has been preserved.
The church's western cross-arm is among the best-preserved sections: its walls, the vaulted arch, and a number of stones from the triangular pediment and cornices survive. The northern cross-arm is also partly standing, while the southern cross-arm has almost entirely collapsed.
The church's dome is completely lost, but the surviving elements of the structure allow us to establish that it was originally domed.
The monument is currently in a state of disrepair.
