The Upside-Down Museum is located in the city of Gyumri. It showcases the way of life, and its name comes from this very way of life: upside-down. The museum is housed in a 1900s building, where antiques from the 1890s to the USSR era are hung from the ceiling. The ceiling is made of wood, which allows the items to hang securely.
The museum houses antiques: telephones, cupboards, beds, refrigerators, clocks, paintings, crockery, and so on.
The museum was founded by the winemaker Tsolak Vardanyan; the space was initially a wine tasting venue, but the project later expanded. Now, in the final of the museum's four halls, visitors are served a homemade raisin wine. The museum's premises once belonged to the famous merchant Ter Martirosyan, who received a special charter from the Russian Tsar Nicholas. This is attested to by a bas-relief on the house's archway.
