The Mariam and Eranuhi Aslamazyan Sisters Gallery is a vibrant cultural landmark situated in a historic 19th-century black tuff mansion in Gyumri.
Established in 1987, the museum is dedicated to two of the most celebrated female artists of the Soviet era. The building itself is a masterpiece of the Alexandrapol architectural style, featuring an iconic wooden balcony and a traditional courtyard that miraculously survived the 1988 earthquake.
Inside, the gallery houses a massive collection of over 600 works, including oil paintings, graphics, and unique ceramics. Mariam Aslamazyan is renowned for her bold, sun-drenched canvases inspired by her travels to India and Africa, while her sister Eranuhi is known for more intimate, lyrical portraits and still lifes. Together, their work provides a rich perspective on the strength of women and the evolution of Armenian modernism.
The museum serves as a rare example of a space entirely dedicated to female creators from the 20th century. By blending traditional Armenian motifs with international influences, the sisters created a legacy that remains a cornerstone of Gyumri’s artistic identity.
