Wine & brandy tasting at Ijevan Wine-Brandy Factory

Tavush

About

One of Armenia's oldest wineries, founded in 1951 in Ijevan, Tavush Province, to process grapes from the Aghstev river valley. Privatized in 1996 and modernized after a 2005 acquisition, it now produces wine, brandy — including the aged "King Abgar" line — fruit vodka, juice, and preserves under brands such as Ijevan Areni, Mkhitar Gosh, Sargon, and Haghartsin, exporting across the region.
What people can do there: Take a guided tour through the fermentation hall and aging cellar, where barrels and vintage bottles date back to 1974; taste a flight of wines and brandies, including aged cognac and rose-petal wine; browse the on-site shop for wine, preserves, and sauces; and visit the small on-site zoo.
