The Church of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker in Amrakits is located in the village of Amrakits, Lori Province, not far from Stepanavan. The village was formerly known as Nikolayevka.
Different sources provide varying dates for the church’s construction. However, it is generally believed to have been built in the 1840s by several Slavic families.
The church is a small cruciform structure and differs significantly from traditional Armenian ecclesiastical architecture. Its arms are covered with tall, steeply pitched roofs, while the central section is crowned with five small domes. An open-arched bell tower stands on the southern side. The building is considered a notable example of Neo-Russian architecture, featuring wooden roofs, metal roofing, and a silhouette characteristic of Russian churches.
The Church of Saint Nicholas suffered considerable damage during the 1988 Spitak earthquake. It was restored in 2026. The structure was reinforced, the roof and walls were repaired, and the surrounding area was improved.
